Meet The Leader of the BISYOC Orchestra

Published on Saturday 11 July 2015

This is Blanca Fernández González (born Madrid, 1991).
She is a recent first class master’s graduate from the Royal Academy of Music where she won the Santander UK Universities Award. Blanca loves orchestral playing - she has performed with The London Symphony Orchestra, Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid, Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival (SHMF), European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO) - as much as playing in smaller ensembles. As a chamber musician she has taken part in The Wigmore Hall String Quartet Weekend, Aurora Festival (Sweden), Astona Festival (Switzerland) and toured the UK with her string quartet playing in several venues; St Martin in the Fields was one to remember! She has appeared as a soloist with orchestras such as the Orquesta Andrés Segovia or Orquesta Iuventas and is very grateful to all the institutions that have supported her studies such as Juventudes Musicales, The Royal Academy of Music, AIE, the Government of the Comunidad de Madrid, Astona International. Blanca really enjoys teaching, cycling to the river and jumping in, hiking and listening to old vinyl records.
